Vikings rumors: Adam Thielen roster cut could lead to doomsday scenario

The Minnesota Vikings could release veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen. Unfortunately, this opens the door to a nightmare scenario.
If Adam Thielen stays at Minnesota, he’ll be in danger of falling down the depth chart behind Vikings wide receiver KJ Osborne. Justin Jefferson is the obvious No. 1, but Thelin makes a lot of money for the Vikings to add around their stars.
It’s an easy decision to let Thelin go if he doesn’t restructure his contract when Minnesota demands it. He’s been a Viking for nearly a decade, making two Pro Bowls and an All-Pro team.
However, the risk of letting Thielen go is that his upcoming team could very well reside in the NFC North. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “There is a real possibility that the Vikings and Adam Thielen part ways in the coming days, allowing the two-time Pro-Bowl WR to become a free agent, per sources. The two sides will talk in the coming days, but his time in Minnesota may finish “.
Could Adam Tellen leave the Vikings for a rival championship?
It’s a relatively weak wide receiver market, and a lot of teams need help in that position. That makes a player like Thielen – who has experience and won’t come at a higher cost – somewhat valuable, especially later in the season.
Teams like the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, who lack veteran wide receivers and depth in position, would be a perfect fit for Thielen if he didn’t mind wearing their colors after many years of purple Vikings.
Even a team like the Dallas Cowboys, a fellow NFC contender who needs depth at a wide receiver position beyond just CeeDee Lamb, makes sense as a fit for Thielen.
As exaggerated as it is, perhaps Minnesota should consider meeting Thelen halfway, rather than isolating him entirely.
