The Dallas Cowboys are entering a critical offseason. Let’s break down eight possible targets for free radicals.
Once again, the Dallas Cowboys fell short of expectations, losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.
The Cowboys have a talented roster, but it’s clear they need to make moves off the season. However, it won’t be easy. Right now, they have – $18.774 million estimated space per spottrack. However, the Cowboys could make an additional $33.385 million in space with the following moves:
Dak Prescott Restructuring ($14,917,500) Michael Gallup Restructuring ($7,440,000) Zack Martin Restructuring ($6,167,500) Ezekiel Elliott Relief ($4,860,000)
If they create the cap space, who should be at the top of the Cowboys’ free agent board?
8. Bryce Callahan, CB
Over the past few seasons, Callahan has been quietly one of the most effective cornerbacks in the NFL.
In 2020, he allowed a passer rating of just 47.8 on targeting, the lowest in the NFL.
In 2021, he had another great season with the Denver Broncos. In 11 games, he allowed a completion percentage of 56.8 percent, which is eight percent below the league average.
During the 2022 season, Callahan signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. He went on to play in 15 games and take 586 defensive snaps. In pass coverage, he gave up a passer rating of 80.0. It was 9.1 points below the league average and the second best mark among Chargers defensive backs. In addition, he came up with a career-high three interceptions.
Callahan isn’t the most cheerful player. At just 5-foot-9, his most recent contract was $1.27 million. However, his numbers are consistently excellent. He would make a great under-the-radar addition to a Cowboys high school.
