The 2023 NFL Draft Order has been updated after the Panthers traded up to No. 1 with the Bears by Scott Rogest

The Panthers trade to get the #1 pick in the NFL Draft from the Bears had NFL Twitter picking sides over whether Carolina was cheated.

The Panthers and Bears NFL team ignited Twitter Friday night by agreeing to a deal to send the #1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft from Chicago to Carolina.

The Bears were expected to trade a top pick to a team in need of a quarterback and found their partner in the Panthers eager to give new coach Frank Reich a quarterback franchise.

the cost? Carolina gives up multiple picks in this year’s draft and the next two, along with wide receiver DJ Moore.

How did NFL Twitter react to the Panthers-Bears trading for the No. 1 pick?

Some liked the deal on both sides, looking at a positive win for the Bears and Panthers alike.

I like to trade both sides. Chicago gets a bonus, a gun for Justin Fields, and the #Panthers get their pick of a potential franchise quarterback.

Huge dubs on both sides of this international trade fair. It was very clear that DJ Moore was on his way out regardless https://t.co/OWLSolmVC3

Others, however, thought it was bad for the Panthers, who believe they were under attack by giving up that much in order to move up to an unproven quarterback.

I’m not saying that but some people say cheetahs have been stripped. I just report what is being said

The bears just stripped the panthers.

Wow I hate that trade for cheetahs! The press release should have said “From the producers of Rudy Gobert Trade…”

— Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) March 10, 2023

Much of the criticism of the Panthers centered around the addition of DJ Moore in the trade.

Without DJ Moore, who is the Panthers’ new QB going to throw the ball to?

— Trevor Lane (@Trevor_Lane) March 10, 2023

Panthers refused to give good wide receivers to Cam Newton, why would they do anything different to Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud

— Jordan Elliott (@splash_cousin) March 10, 2023

Panthers fans didn’t enjoy it though. The prospect of bringing a quarterback to the franchise outweighs the rest for them.

I will miss DJ Moore.

But I’d love to franchise a QB on an entry-level contract even more https://t.co/hSXoQlWb9I

If one of our QBs ends up being a true top 5 QB in the league, no Panthers fans will care what they gave up https://t.co/yBlxdyGxVw

– Joel Erickson (@JoelAErickson) March 10, 2023

You can never have a franchise QB touchdown massacre. DJ Moore was a hit because of how much we love him but his addition saved us a bunch of shots. WRs are easy to get. A franchise QB it is not

– 𓃵 (@Goaty_Szn) March 10, 2023

The #Panthers paid a heavy price to jump from No. 9 to No. 1, but it’s worth noting: They still had a second-round option (No. 39) this year, and didn’t have to give up a first-rounder in 2025. Christian McCaffrey’s trade provided flexibility. Now they can have their own QB.

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) March 10, 2023

Everyone was pretty much in agreement that it was a great day for the Bears.

What a Masterclass by Ryan Pauls…

The #Bears captured two first-round picks trading with the #Panthers.

Chicago also added to the receiving corps, picking up D.J. Moore.

Great job by the Poles, who got the best possible deal for first place overall.

Meanwhile, the Texans were hunting down the strays for their role in giving the Bears the first pick in the first place.

It’s impossible to overstate the magnitude of the Texans’ last-minute two-point conversion in their Week 18 win over the Colts. Texas’ victory in that game gave the Bears the first overall pick, and such a massive amount. https://t.co/rIlQcZ2dfz

— Michael David Smith (@MichaelDavSmith) March 10, 2023

Boy, Lovie Smith spoiled the Texans big time by not losing a very losing Week 18 match. I would kill to see the smile on his face now. https://t.co/OahxeVsmSH

Now speculation can begin as to which quarterback the Panthers intend to pick with the #1 pick. Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, and Florida’s Anthony Richardson have all been discussed as potential top picks but it all depends on Carolina’s preference.
