NFL rumors: Vikings could ship off another valuable member of the offense

The Minnesota Vikings are making some changes to their roster, and they’ve received a trade offer for one of their best players on offense.
The Minnesota Vikings are about to make some big moves, as they look to hit the salary cap. They’ve already made one big move in releasing quarterback Eric Kendricks, and reports suggest they’ll be moving on from Adam Thelin. Could another big step be on the way?
According to SKOR North’s Darren Wolfson, the Vikings have received a trade offer to return star Dalvin Cook. Not only that, but Cook is unwilling to cut his salary with Minnesota, according to Wolfson.
The Vikings reportedly received a trade offer for Dalphine Cook
“I heard there was a show on Dalvin Cook,” said Wolfson, h/t Sports Illustrated. “So if they want to trade Dalphin Cook, there’s a team that’s interested. I don’t know the pick, I don’t know if it’s a seventh-round pick, or a fifth-round pick. And I don’t even know if the Vikings are willing to say, ‘Okay, yeah, let’s do it,'” I just know there is a business interest.”
Cook is entering the third year of his five-year, $63 million career and is set to account for $14.1 million against the cap. If the team were to release or trade Cook before June 1, they would save $7.8 million in cap space, but eat up $6.2 million in cap space, per Spotrac. However, if they released or traded him after June 1, they would save $11 million in cap space.
Playing in all 17 regular season games, Cook ran for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns on 264 carries, while catching 39 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns on 56 targets.
It will be interesting to see what the Vikings do in terms of cooking. Will they keep it to ensure the safety of their abuse? Or would they consider trading him to a team in need of a running back to earn some extra capital?
