NFL rumors: Raiders had shocking Plan A before Jimmy G deal

The Las Vegas Raiders may have been interested in signing Tom Brady in place of Jimmy Garoppolo before his second retirement.
Before adding Jimmy Garoppolo in free agency, the Las Vegas Raiders may have started with the idea of signing Tom Brady as a free agent.
The Athletic’s Tashan Reed and Jeff Howe reported that Las Vegas explored all options before signing the San Francisco 49ers’ starter and New England Patriots backup. With Garoppolo playing under New England’s Josh McDaniels and in the same building with front office executive Dave Ziegler, the connection was clear. Then again, the same principle applies to Brady, too.
While the Raiders would have been a good fit for Brady, he chose to retire for the second time.
NFL rumour: Las Vegas Raiders looked Tom Brady ahead of Jimmy Garoppolo
look. I want nothing more than for Garoppolo to be the best thing to happen to the Raiders since Ken Stabler. Viper is a legend for many reasons, and I want Garoppolo to finally get the respect he deserves as a player. As far as Brady’s addition is concerned, we all knew his working relationship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was completely cooked halfway through his last NFL season.
While the Raiders probably wouldn’t be of championship caliber with a 46-year-old Brady as a quarterback, they did use the late George Blanda in his 40s. He mostly kicked field goals for them, but he will be enshrined in Canton forever with the Bradys in just six years. Again, we’re in an interesting field, and the role of Brady in full heels would have been pretty epic.
The truth is, Garoppolo is absolutely perfect for what the Raiders need now that they’re pivoting on Derek Carr. Garoppolo is a sophisticated beginner. He’ll win games when he’s healthy and he’s not afraid of the big stage in the postseason. The problem is that he is prone to injury and because of this, no one will look at him as the face of their franchise. Well…let’s just win, baby!
Ultimately, we’ll never know if a Brady McDaniels reunion in Las Vegas will work out. Honestly, it probably didn’t live up to the hype because Brady is getting old and the Raiders aren’t very good. However, this Jimmy G connection may be the greatest thing to happen in Las Vegas since gambling. The Invaders may not be cool, but they are interesting now.
The Brady to the Raiders connection seemed legit at first, but it may have been more than that.
