NFL rumors: Panthers already split on which QB to take No. 1

ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter hinted that the Carolina Panthers are already divided over which quarterback should take the No. 1 pick.
With just over a month until the start of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers have staked their claim. On Friday, the Panthers acquired the first pick in the draft from the Chicago Bears in exchange for the 9th and 61st picks this year, first round in 2024, second round in 2025, and wide receiver DJ Moore.
Now, Carolina has their choice of which quarterback to pick on the opening night of the NFL Draft on April 27. So, who are the Panthers going to take?
During an appearance on “SportsCenter,” ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter said there’s a belief that Carolina coach Frank Reich likes Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, while team owner David Tepper likes Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
It is believed that the Panthers are divided over which QB to choose in the 2023 NFL Draft
Schefter said this on a phone call to someone in the Panthers organization. Then, tell this NFL insider that they love all quarterback prospects and that they’ll use the days leading up to the draft to decide which ones to pick.
“Just got off the phone with somebody in the organization, and I said, ‘There’s a belief David Tepper likes Bryce Young and Frank Reich likes CJ Stroud. ‘” “We love all of these players, and we have 48 days to decide which one to take,” Schefter said.
The leopards are in an excellent location. They have the next month over to assess all potential players without worrying about another team jumping on them. Therefore, they have all the time in the world.
Young is the best quarterback in the entire class, but there are concerns about his height, as he was measured at 5-foot-10 at the NFL Scouting Combine. As for Stroud, he starred at the Peach Bowl at the end of last season, and during a throwing session at the Combine.
Who will the Panthers pick when they are on the clock on April 27? Will he be young? Will you be straddled? Will it be Levis or Anthony Richardson? We’ll find out once NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announces the selection.
