The Eagles need a first-round draft pick if they want to complete their mission to become Super Bowl champions next season.
Getting to the Super Bowl and winning the Super Bowl are two completely different things. That’s why the Philadelphia Eagles front office is determined to revise the roster to win it all next year. Part of that plan would require Philadelphia to immediately start a first-round pick.
The challenge for the Eagles is to land an impact player near the end of Day 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft. They currently possess the No. 30 overall ranking and the chances of Philadelphia rising to the top are remote. Instead, he expects the Philadelphia 30 to stand back and pick up the best prospect that falls into their hands.
Rebuilding the defensive line with a first-round draft pick would be the obvious solution. The team also has voids to fill at guard and offensive safety. It would be surprising to see Philadelphia fail to meet a roster need in the first round. The number one player on this list may not excite the Eagles fanbase, but he will help the team continue to dominate in the trenches.
Eagles: 5 first-round targets of the 2023 NFL Draft
5. O’Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida
If, as expected, Isaac Seumalo leaves the team via free agency, landing the starting guard via the draft will be a top priority for the Philadelphia front office. The first round may be too early to fill that need, but Torrence could be the man if the Eagles go to guard at #30.
Torrence isn’t the most agile guard in this recruiting class, but his strength at the point of offense will draw the confidence of Eagles’ minds. What it lacks in potential it makes up for in current production. Torrence is a next-level plug-and-play rookie making him a solid potential value for the Eagles at the end of the first round.
