The Philadelphia Eagles have already seen several personnel departures making it into the Super Bowl. Now another assistant is on the move.
Nick Siriani did a great job in his second year as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Most NFL coaches never make it to the Super Bowl, let alone get there too quickly. He got there but he still needs to take the next step to get back in and then win it.
The job could be even more challenging in 2023 because Sirianni’s coaching staff has seen a lot of change.
On Sunday, Ian Rapoport revealed the imminent departure of another assistant, reporting that passing coordinator and defensive backs coach Denard Wilson and the Eagles are “mutual part ways.”
After being a finalist in the #Eagles DC job that went to Sean Desai, Philly defensive passing game coordinator and DBs coach Dennard Wilson and his team are mutually parting ways, sources say. This is often the result when an internal candidate is passed over for a promotion.

Wilson was in the running to take over the defensive coordinator position but Seahawks defensive assistant Sean Desai got the gig instead.

By bypassing an internal candidate, Sirianni opened the door for Wilson to look for opportunities elsewhere. Now, in addition to figuring out his team’s needs, the head coach needs to replace the DB head coach along with the other big names left this season.
The Eagles lost DC Jonathan Gannon in the head coaching gig with the Cardinals. He brought in linebackers coach Nick Rales with him to run his defence.
Offensive coordinator Shane Steichen also got a promotion to head coach of the Colts. He was replaced at home by quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson.
So the Philadelphia crew will be significantly changed from last season with many new faces and familiar faces in new roles.
Wilson joined the Eagles as DB Coach in 2021. He was named Passing Game Coordinator in 2022. Prior to Philadelphia, he served in the same roles with the Jets. He began his coaching career with the Rams after serving as a scout for the Bears.
