Chiefs rumors: Patrick Mahomes fielding calls from several free-agent wideouts

Spread the word – Kansas City is the place to go for any wide receiver trying to land a long-term deal. It will likely come after a proven deal, thanks to chief quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

If you don’t believe me, just ask JuJu Smith-Schuster. While JuJu played a crucial role in the 2023 Super Bowl season, he didn’t make it to Kansas City like many coveted commodities.

Smith-Schuster is expected to receive a $13 million per season contract in a multi-year deal. He was talked about slapping after winning the Super Bowl, in part because he took on Eagles defensive back James Bradbury. It’s been a great year for JuJu, all because he made the smart decision to sign up for KC and play with Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes is mainly made up of money at this point, and is happy to lend a hand in making other people rich too.

On Good Morning Football, James Palmer said the following, according to Sports Illustrated:

“…receivers from all over the league are interested in playing Kansas City. As far as quarterback Patrick Mahomes is concerned, Palmer says the wides have been “calling him this whole season” asking if they could come play him on the Chiefs. While he admits Palmer said that he was not alluding to the signing directly, going on to say that the possibility of an outside addition was “on the table”.

Mahomes has been answering calls from wide receivers all over the league, and it’s hard to blame them. In what could be a bear market for the wides as a whole, Kansas City is an attractive backup plan should any free agent fail to receive the long-term deal they covet.

KC needs to replace both Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman this season if they are not re-signed. The line is busy at the moment, but a Mahomes customer service rep will be without you shortly.
