Aaron Rodgers rumour: Packers and Jets trade talks take a huge step back by Mark Powell

Just because it’s March Madness, doesn’t mean the NFL is still in the lead when major news hits, and that’s exactly what happened on Saturday.

It was announced that the Chicago Bears have traded the #1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers.

This means that the Cheetahs are effective around the clock.

It didn’t take long after the deal was announced for the odds of drafting a player first overall to move quickly. Bryce Young was the betting favorite the entire season, but that is no longer the case.

Let’s look at the latest possibilities.

NFL Draft No. 1 Pick Odds

Just like that, Ohio State’s CJ Stroud is now the new betting favorite to be selected first overall. This follows reports that he is the starting quarterback for the Panthers.

The betting odds made him designated as -300 to be selected first overall, an implied probability of 75%. Of course, this is the NFL and nothing is guaranteed.

There have also been reports that even though Stroud is the Panthers’ starting man, they may be open to a trade if they feel they can still get him after a few draft picks. That could open things up for someone like Bryce Young or Anthony Richardson to be selected first overall instead.

Whatever happens, you can count on betting odds to show you the most likely outcome heading into the NFL Draft. Who in the world needs Adam Shifter when we have sportsbooks to tell us the news?
