Aaron Rodgers finally gives long-awaited update on Packers-Jets trade talks

Aaron Rodgers has us in the palm of his hand, and there’s not much we can do about it. With Packers and Jets trade talks heating up, Rodgers will soon make up his mind.

The Packers are done waiting for Aaron Rodgers, who took a small step back last season and looked (dare I say) deadly at times behind center. However, for the New York Jets, the human Aaron Rodgers is somewhat of a massive step up from what they are used to.

Rodgers has held the NFL landscape hostage every season. We covered his dark retreat in detail, only for the 39-year-old to walk out and take an extra week to decide on his future. Clarity not gained.

After a meeting with the Jets brass, Rodgers appears to be getting closer to making a decision, one way or the other. There are still a few hoops to jump through – namely contract issues and commercial damages – but beyond that, if Rodgers wants to play football, he’ll be fine in New York.

NFL rumours: Aaron Rodgers drops hint Packers-Jets trade is close

Packers president Mark Murphy made it clear Friday night that Rodgers’ career at Green Bay is a thing of the past.

“Yeah. I mean, unless it goes the way we want it to go,” said Murphy. “Obviously he’s a great player. Four times MVP. But I think she’s trying to find what he wants and what we want, and hopefully we can create a win-win situation.”

Murphy and Green Bay want to do what Rodgers, who has played for the franchise for nearly two decades, is doing. Rodgers’ situation is not dissimilar to that of Brett Favre, who was traded 15 years ago to — you guessed it — the New York Jets.

Rodgers has taken over for Favre, so he knows very well what it feels like to love Jordan.
